My 7 Favorite Online Yoga Classes
Moving through your body’s range of motion can be nourishing. You can find as much joy in this experience as anything else in your life. Movement is always available.
Yoga is a moving meditation that will increase your body control, stability, flexibility, strength, and it may prevent injuries. With a low barrier to entry and relevant health benefits to athletes, yoga complements Jiujitsu practice well. I’ve outlined my 7 favorite yoga teachers below.
If you have preexisting aches and pains, it may be helpful to apply some CBD lotion before doing a yoga class to manage your aches and inflammation. If you’re a cheap bastard and not quite sold on yoga, don’t worry, we’ve got you in mind. We’ve included teachers that teach free full-length classes. With yoga or any skill for that matter, it’s very important to start with a minimal dose that yields results. Gradually, improvement is sustained improvement—especially when cross-training. When looking at a yoga practice, look for short in frequent. Try not to pressure yourself into a hectic and inconsistent schedule. 10 minutes a day trumps 1 40 minutes yoga class for the week. Enjoy!

Do Yoga With Me is a great service that offers dozens of free yoga videos with a focus on beginner and intermediate level students. Out of all the free streaming platforms, they have the longest classes ( 60 mins+). Among the streaming services that offer long-form classes, they are perhaps the most well put together. They have a lot of strength building yoga classes(Vinyasa).
Yoga With Adriene on YouTube
Yoga with Adriene is a teacher that has a wide range of classes on YouTube. Adriene talks a lot through her videos, but she explains a lot of correct body posture and common mistakes that I found very helpful as a beginner. Her classes are in the 10 – 40 minute range. Below is her video for taco breath. While it won’t help your flexibility or strength, it’ll help you maintain control of your energy during grappling sessions.
Black Swan Yoga
Black Swan Yoga is a subscription-based Yoga streaming service that comes with its own app. The classes featured on Black Swan are some of the best available, and they have a very diverse library. I recommend this service to people who are either: wanting to put a lot of time and commitment into yoga, or have the money to spend to dabble in the highest quality content.
Sadie Nardini
Sadie Nardini hosts her yoga classes on YouTube. Her classes focus on Core Muscle activation and Vinyasa(Strength orientated) yoga.
Ekhart Yoga
Ekhart Yoga’s classes offered on YouTube are short and sweet, with a good balance of flexibility and strength poses. They offer a paid version on their website, and they offer a ‘sampling’ of that content on YouTube.
Fight Master Yoga
Fight Master Yoga is HIIT(High-Intensity Interval Training) and strength focused. If you’re looking to build explosive power and control—this lady is for you! I think her combination of HIIT and yoga is relative towards athletics because it requires the body to move explosively and slow down to controlled movement on razor’s edge.
Yoga For BJJ
Yoga for BJJ is great for cutting out all the bull-shit and practice yoga that directly relates to Jiujitsu. With practical stretches pre- and post-roll and classes to get your body working, Yoga For BJJ is a powerful platform. They have a sampling of their videos on YouTube, however, if you want access to their collection you’ll have to pay their subscription on their website. If you want someone to deliver the most distilled yoga practice for a Jiujitsu athlete, it’s worth the subscription fee!
Tom Merrick
Alright, some of you will be thinking, “ Fuck this yoga shit, I just want to roll every hour I can. “ For those of you that feel starved for time, Tom is a great resource! His content on YouTube covers optimal strength, mobility, and flexibility all within 10 minutes regular workouts.
Tom is one of the most knowledgeable teachers of body weight exercises I’ve come across. Below you’ll find his mobility playlist that’ll take you through short 10 minutes routines to increase your mobility, health, and well-being.
