In episode 12 of the becoming human podcast I explore Jesse Nutting’s pursuit of fulfillment.
In massachusetts as a child, Jesse had struggles much like our own, that inspired him to run away, migrate to the pacific northwest, join the military, and finding a passion for martial arts, even further- a passion for the feeling of fear. I’ll step out of the way and let him tell his story. Before that here’s a song by The Living Arrows called I Am Not my thoughts, sometimes we get so caught up in our extrinsic value and forget to empty ourselves to the point of being beleaguered.
People are fighting for what they believe is equality, but will such protest and action achieve the freedoms and opportunity that we desire?
Garrick Saunders ( http://bit.ly/hewhocaptures ) rumenates on his passion of capturing powerful moments with poloraoid. As Garrick puts it, "it's immediate, you can give it freely." Garrick also describes his asexuality which he believes allows him to increase his commitment to polaroid and making art. Garrick reminded me why I began this journey of making art and helping others articulate what it is they are pursuing. I remembered how alienated, lost, and dead I felt. Garrick brought me comfort and inspiration during our conversation and I hope he does the same for you! Till next time ya beautiful fucks!
This episode features my friends: Aaron, Amanda, and Josiah. We stumbled into Josiah, on the streets of Bellingham, where he was drawing in his strange notebooks. We also navigate his sanity, pursuit of fulfillment and what its like to be homeless. This is Josiah's story of becoming human, of unbecoming the parameters created by our environment, egos, and intellect. Music by Heuristix, more information at www.facebook.com/heuristix801.
