#23|Jesse Marshall was tranquilized by the trivial toils of everyday life. After being forced to join the army, the structured and stern environment felt like he was at home. Hearing his stories of deployment reminded me of my experience with community, especially a community that encounters difficult moments often. Finding a sense of strong community in any discipline, activity, etc. guarantees that I will stick with it and deeply satisfies me- minimizing my depressive periods. Jesse recently had his debut kickboxing match. We discuss his mentality going into the fight and his experience training in a discipline.
